Why Wiswás?
"What will become of us?" — the perpetual question of a middle class that built Lebanon and now wonders if it has a future in it.
The poor get aid. The rich got richer.
Many of the rich got richer because — it's who you know. Except for those rich without access to politicians and bankers; they themselves became the new middle class, if not the new poor.
Middle class extinct?
Where is our future? Where are our deposits? These are not slogans — they are the daily questions of millions of Lebanese refused dignity by their own institutions.
We refuse hegemonies.
We refute forceful political and economic hegemonies over state decision-making. We want 24/7 access to information, freedom, property rights, and transparency — the Lebanon all Lebanese actually want.
Hope is an act.
The obsession cools and focuses when met with hope, resilience, and an action-oriented attitude. The waswás then turns to attaining real, authentic Lebanese-style living.
And a better vacation back home too.
